Production Order Processing
Customers requiring management of inventory during production or manufacturing process jobs while maintaining visibility in the ERP can use Infor WMS to manage the process. Some information required for flows between the ERP and Infor WMS to work is stored in Infor WMS tables only and is not editable by the Infor WMS user.
Customers can useInfor WMS along with their ERP solution to manage raw materials (including packaging) to the production line to fill orders. The application manages the flow of the raw materials to consider space limitations in that staging area while ensuring there is adequate inventory to keep the production process moving.
Some items will be depleted from inventory using "actual" consumption as the raw materials are used in the production process. Other items will be removed from inventory using a "backflush" process as the finished goods are received. Additionally, the ERP solution can direct the quantity to remove based on consumption at a "report point" along the production line. More complex scenarios include managing replacement component items in production and scrap transactions that impact the overall consumption of component inventory.
This chapter covers the information required to configure the Infor WMS application to manage this process. The workflow for this process includes much more than just orders. It includes replenishment, wave maintenance, picking, receiving, cycle counting, inventory moves, and putaway. Each of these areas are mentioned in this guide but details on how to perform each of the functions are not covered in this section.
There are configuration settings available in Infor WMS to allow for various types of production/manufacturing environments to use the application. Some settings help manage a more automated process where the ERP passes automated signals to Infor WMS to closely direct the production order process. Other uses of the settings provide a more manual process as the finished goods are received and production orders are closed.
