Travel Section Overview

A travel section is a collection of locations and aisles with specific travel requirements. The system uses the information you define for each section to determine the most practical travel route both within and between sections; this information is then used to calculate travel time for labor standards.

The system uses the X,Y values defined for each location in the WM system to determine which travel section the location resides in and how the locations relate to each other. A location can not be in two travel sections at the same time.

You also use the Travel Sections function to create travel lines, such as a wall, and travel points, such as a central office location, where travel cannot occur. The system identifies the record type, section, line, or point based on the initial corner points that you identify.

Depending on equipment and travel restrictions, you can enter a few key values to configure a travel section. For complex configuration requirements, you can define detailed information for boundaries, aisles, and equipment/task restrictions.
