Moving inventory

A move refers to the movement of stock from one location to another in the warehouse. The challenge with moves is coordinating the physical move of the stock with the move of the inventory within the application. You can perform moves in the application using any of these methods:

  • Workstation
  • RF-assisted (operator directed)
  • RF-directed (task manager)
  • System suggested (when moving picked inventory)

Manual move

The term manual move refers to using RF or the workstation to record product movement without being directed by the system. Examples of where manual moves can be recorded in Infor WMS Warehouse Management

  • Inventory Move screen on the workstation
  • Standard Move (RL01) screen in RF
  • LPN Move (RL01LP) screen in RF
  • Move from QC (QC01) screen in RF
  • Assisted Putaway screens in RF
  • Replenishment screen (RP02) in RF

RF-assisted move

You can use the Move option to perform an RF-assisted move. Using these options, you can communicate to the application in realtime what is being moved. Additionally, the system validates system inventory as part of the transaction.
Note: Replenishment moves and putaway moves are two additional types of RF-assisted moves.

RF-directed move (Task Manager)

The application directs the work by sending move tasks to associates who use RF devices based on priority. The application updates the inventory record after confirmation that the task has been completed.

Serial number tracking

You can track serial numbers from receipt through shipment in Infor WMS Warehouse Management. See the Infor WMS Capture Weight, Serial Number, and Data User Guide for information on how to perform inventory moves for items that require serialized tracking.
