Validating the count records
Once the team counts are complete, you can initiate a system validation process that checks the completeness of all the count records prior to posting the physical inventory.
The validation checks include:
- Check that Team A has counted all count records. Any count records that were created must have a count recorded for Team A prior to posting the physical. The quantity can be 0, but must be entered. (Note that there is not a check on Team B or C counts.)
- Check that each physical control count contains a system lot number. If the lot
attributes did not previously exist for item and a lot could not be determined,
the system assigns a new lot number. A system lot number is applied when a new
count is added if the lot could be determined by the system using the attributes
captured by the user during the count.
- If the system finds counts without a system lot number, a message is displayed instructing you to review the lot attributes for blank lot records.
- If you are satisfied with the lot attribute information identified for records without system lots, you can dismiss the message and allow the system to generate lot numbers for the records.
- Locations that do not contain any inventory in the system and were counted as empty are excluded from this check since there is not an item or lot associated to the location.
