Dynamic picking overview
Dynamic picking allows the picker to ignore application-assigned pallets or cases in favor of different pallets or cases, as long as the alternative pallets or cases meet warehouse-defined rotation rules and date variances.
Dynamic picking allows the picker to pick up as many as three pallets simultaneously. Standard allocation manages pallets individually. Pickers using dynamic picking can choose to sort their case picks by weight from heaviest to lightest to avoid crushing or they can request to get their picks in location sequence.
The way a picker performs case level swapping depends on whether the warehouse uses fixed picking locations. If the warehouse does not use fixed pick locations, a picker can pick cases from any location that passes the date variance check. If the warehouse uses fixed pick locations for cases, the application will direct the product to be picked from the fixed location.
If a warehouse does use fixed picks for cases, the application offers the option of picker replenishment. This means, a picker receives a replenishment task if the quantity to be picked exceeds the balance remaining in the fixed pick location. If the quantity is less than or equal to the balance remaining in the pick location, the picker is given the pick task. If the Selector Replenishment feature is not enabled, the picker always gets the pick task, even if the quantity exceeds the remaining balance in the pick location.
