Shelf life

Some warehouse operations have items that maintain a shelf life date. Common examples are grocery items such as cheese and milk, for which the date is stamped with the words Expires or Best if used/sold by. Retail operations that sell shelf-life items usually have agreements with suppliers to have a certain span of shelf life remaining on each item when it arrives to the store. This allows the retailer enough time to sell the item before the Expire or Sold By date.

The Shelf Life field that is used with dynamic allocation is located on the SO Detail 2 tab of the Shipment Order Detail screen. The Shelf Life field is on the order detail because different retailers have different requirements regarding shelf life of an item. During order allocation, the associate can modify this field and re-allocate the order to change the results of the allocation routine.
