Opportunistic crossdock overview

Use opportunistic crossdock functionality to provide a productivity gain by immediately staging or picking product for outbound orders. You configure various criteria to provide the ability to control which items and outbound orders can be crossdocked.

Here is a summary of settings that control the use of opportunistic crossdock:

  • Overall system setting for opportunistic crossdock
  • Item flag to enable opportunistic processing for the item
  • Owner setting to allow opportunistic processing
  • Owner setting to limit the age of orders based on the requested ship date for the order
  • Owner setting for order types that are restricted
  • Owner settings for productivity control

After orders are identified as eligible candidates for crossdock on the receipt, the system uses the prioritization settings to rank the list of eligible orders by using criteria such as order priority, order date, requested ship date, or order type.

This guide explains information on the specific configuration. See the Infor WMS Configuration User Guide for additional configuration information.

Order selection and eligibility

The order selection and eligibility process checks are defined below. After opportunistic crossdock configuration is complete, these checks are automatically application-generated during the pre-receipt process.

Warehouse configuration

To allow opportunistic crossdock to occur, you must enable the system flag.

Owner configuration

You must configure the owner to enable opportunistic crossdock. You set this flag at the Warehouse level. Additional parameters for the owner control how opportunistic crossdock are used.

Item configuration

You must enable an item for opportunistic crossdock.

Open order demand

Open order demand is defined as any order line quantities on regular shipment orders that have not been pre-allocated, allocated, picked, or shipped. If any demand is found for the Item during receipt, the order is included in a list of the eligible open order lines eligible for opportunistic processing.

Order type restriction configuration

The application attempts to disqualify any order lines from opportunistic fulfillment based on the opportunistic order type restrictions configured for the owner. Open order lines with a restricted order type are removed from the list of eligible opportunistic order lines.

Order requested ship date restriction configuration

The application further attempts to disqualify any order lines (from the list of remaining eligible order lines) from opportunistic fulfillment, based on the Requested Ship Date restriction setting defined for the owner. If the order is not within the acceptable date range, those lines are not included in the list of eligible lines.

Order sequencing

Order lines that remain on the eligible order line list (after this check is performed) are ranked (sequenced) based on the Order Demand Sequencing settings defined for the owner and inserted in the Opportunistic Allocation Management table.

The Opportunistic Allocation Management table drives the ultimate allocation of the eligible open order demand.
