Configuring sortation stations

Sortation Stations are used to define the stations and locations that are used during the sortation process.

To configure a sortation station:

  1. Select Configuration > Sort Station to open the Sortation Station screen.
  2. Click New to access the Sortation Station detail view.
  3. With the Station tab selected, specify this information:
    Sort Station
Unique identifier of the sortation station. Required.
    Number of Sort Locations
    Number of sort locations.
    Number of Queued Batches
Calculated number of orders with order type of 100 (Batch Order).
    Grid Code
Code used to identify the purpose of the grid. The code typically relates to the type of product serviced.
  4. Click the Product Types tab to add or view product type records.
  5. Click the New button to create new records for product types in the sort station. You can either specify both the department and class in the Department and Class fields respectively, or only specify the department. If you do not specify the class, the sort station grid assignment will be based only on the department and not restricted to specific classes. Click Save to add the new records.
  6. Specify this information in the detail portion of the Sortation Station screen:
    Sort Location
Location within the sortation station where a customer’s order is sorted from the bulk containers received from the pickers. Required.
    Location Status
Status of the sortation station. A sortation station’s location must be in active status at the time the wave is released for sort tasks to be sent to the station’s location. You can select from Active or Inactive status only. Required.

    Default value: Active

    # of Positions
    Number of positions.
    Drop ID
Field populated by the application once a sorter scans the ID used to identify the customer’s outbound packing container. This allows the sorter to apply the Drop ID label to the outbound container; then scan the barcode for the location to verify proper sortation. The application then records the sort into the Drop ID assigned to the scanned sortation location. Write-protected.
    Ship To Code
Links a sortation location to a valid Ship To. Click the Lookup icon to display the list of valid Ship To records. Select the applicable record from the list. Note that this field can be left blank; however, if the Ship to is not specified, the location cannot be used for batch picking to grid processing.
    Ship To Group
Links specific groups of customers to specific location positions on the grid when sorting or picking a product for outbound orders. Select the applicable record from the list. The field can be left blank.
  7. Click Save.
