Configuring a Cycle Class

The following topics in this section cover the configuration options on the Cycle Class screen.

Cycle class definition

A Cycle Class is a set of parameters that can be applied to an item to enable the application to automatically generate Cycle Counts for items. It also determines which range of variance is acceptable, and which variance requires a manual override.
Note:  A Cycle Count is a count of a sub-section of the warehouse based on certain criteria. See the Infor WMS Capture Weight, Serial Number, and Data User Guide for more information.

Cycle Classes must be assigned to items and are based on the parameters in the Cycle Class. The application generates Cycle Counts in the Task Manager/RF-directed Task Queue when released through the Cycle Count Generation screen.

Task Manager (RF-directed) cycle counts

For the Task Manager Cycle Count feature to work with cycle days and variances, the Cycle Class must be assigned to the item to be counted. If a Cycle Class is not defined for an item, only tasks released through the Request to Count screen are sent to Task Manager. This includes tasks created on the Request to Count screen, as well as tasks created when using Task Manager Reason Codes with Do Cycle Count set to Yes. Without a Cycle Class assigned, the application accepts any quantity that you enter. The quantity is then posted automatically to inventory.

For more information on Request to Count, see the Infor WMS Capture Weight, Serial Number, and Data User Guide.
