Configuring an Alternate Item

Items in a warehouse can be identified with a variety of labels, each referring to the item by a different name or item number. For example, an item can be labeled with a UPC and a vendor item number. The vendor item number could be considered an alternate item.

You can associate an alternate item code to multiple items in the system. You can also assign a master item as the alternate item for another item from the same Owner. The steps for creating and looking up alternate items are defined in the sections below.

Note:  You can use the Excel Import and Export features to create or update alternate items. With the Import feature, you can import, at a minimum, only the fields required to create an alternate item; or you can import additional data into other Alternate Item fields. With the Export feature, you can select to export all data for selected alternate items or only the data displayed on the list view.
