Configuring item catch weight or catch data
In Enterprise, use the Weight/Data tab on the Item screen to configure catch weight or catch data during inbound and outbound processing.
- Select Enterprise > Configuration > Item.
- Select an item.
- Select the Weight/Data tab.
-
Optionally, specify this information for Inbound
Receipts:
- End to End Serial Tracking
- Select check box to indicate that the item requires full
tracking of serial number through the warehouse. If selected, the
serial numbers impacted by each warehouse operation needs to be
identified if the inventory is split as part of the transaction. If
the entire license plate is affected, you do not have to indicate
the specific serial numbers.
If end to end tracking is used, you are required to activate Inbound Catch Data and Outbound Catch Data for the item. Weight and the Other fields can also be captured for inbound receipts or outbound shipments as needed.
- Inbound Catch Weight
- Select the check box to indicate that weight or data be captured during receiving. If this option is selected, you must also enter the average weight and tolerance%.
- Average Net Weight
- Specify the average weight of the item based on the UOM selected
in Capture Weight
By. If Inbound Catch weight is selected, you must
enter the average weight.
If the Inbound Summary RF Weight Capture check box on the Summary Weight tab is selected, then this field cannot be selected. An item cannot be configured to capture both the average net weight and the summary weight.
- Tare Weight
- Specify the tare weight, which is the weight in excess of the physical units being stored. The specified value is subtracted from the weight captured, and then the difference is compared against the average weight to determine whether it falls within the tolerance level.
- Tolerance (%)
- Specify the allowable deviation of weight,
positive or negative, based on the average weight.
You must specify an amount if Inbound Catch Weight is selected. You cannot have a tolerance value based on an average weight of 0.00. Average weight must be greater than 0.00.
Tolerance % can be greater than 100%. This field prevents you from validating against an average weight when capturing weights inbound. The result is that the captured weight always falls within the tolerance level.
- UOM for Weight/Data/Serial Capture
- Select the average picked weight is to be captured or measured, such as EA (eaches), CS (cases), and PL (pallets).
- Weight Capture UOM
- Select the unit of measure (UOM) for the weight capture if it applies. This
value is the UOM for the weight that the RF user sees when entering
weight data. These values are valid:
- Pounds
- Hundred Pounds (CWT)
- Gallons
- Ounces
- Grams
- Kilograms
- Metric Long Ton
- Inbound Catch Data
- Select this check to indicate that the
catch data including a serial number be captured during receiving.
If selected, you must define at least one catch data label. The
catch data labels consist of these fields:
- Serial #
- Other 2
- Other 3
- Other 4
- Other 5
Catch data labels are labels assigned to the catch data header on the RF, ASN/Receipt, and Catch Weight screens.
- Inbound Serial Unique
- Select this check box to validate the uniqueness of the data captured upon receipt. This field only applies if End to End Serial Capture is not selected.
- Serial #
- If end to end serial capture is required for the item, specify the serial number. The serial numbers must be unique.
-
Optionally, specify this information for the Outbound Shipments:
- Outbound Catch Weight
- Select this check box to indicate that weight is to be captured during picking and shipping. If this option is selected, you are not required to specify an average weight and tolerance %.
- Average Net Weight
- Specify the average net weight based on the UOM selection in
Capture Weight By. If Outbound Catch Weight is selected, specify the
average net weight.
If the Outbound Summary RF Weight Capture check box on the Summary Weight tab is selected, then this field cannot be selected. An item cannot be configured to capture both the average net weight and the summary weight.
- No Entry of Total Weight
- Select this check box if the picker is
required to specify individual weights for quantities picked based
on the Capture
Weight/Data By selection. If not selected, the
picker can record a total weight of the entire quantity being picked
and is not forced to input individually.
By default, this field is selected. We recommend that you leave this field selected unless the particular circumstance demands entry of total weights for items being picked.
- Tolerance %
- Specify the allowable deviation of weight,
positive or negative, based on the average weight.
You must specify an amount if Inbound Catch Weight is selected. You cannot have a tolerance value based on an average weight of 0.00. Average weight must be greater than 0.00.
Tolerance % can be greater than 100%. This field prevents you from validating against an average weight when capturing weights inbound. The result is that the captured weight always falls within the tolerance level.
- UOM for Weight/Data/Serial Capture
- Specify the average picked weight is to be captured or measured, such as EA (eaches), CS (cases), PL (pallets).
- Outbound Catch Data
- Select the check box to indicate whether
the catch data is captured during outbound processing. If the check
box is selected, you must define at least one catch data label. The
catch data labels consist of these fields:
- Serial #
- Other 2
- Other 3
- Other 4
- Other 5
Catch data labels are labels assigned to the catch data header on the RF, ASN/Receipt, and Catch Weight screens.
- Allow Customer Override
- Select this check box to give customer the ability to request outbound catch weight in the event that Outbound Catch Weight is not selected.
- Outbound Serial Unique
- Select this check box to indicate that uniqueness of the data captured for outbound orders should be validated. Only select this check box if End to End Serial Capture is not selected. If End to End Serial Capture is required for the item, then the serial numbers have to be unique. Uniqueness is validated based on the Serial # field.
- Serial #
- If end to end serial capture is required for the item, specify the serial number. The serial numbers must be unique.
- Catch When
- Select when you are required to capture the weight or data
during the outbound process. These values are valid:
- At Pick: The picker is prompted to capture the required weight or data information as each pick is recorded
- At Pack: The packer is prompted to capture the required weight or data information during the pack process
If End to End Serial Capture is selected, then you must select At Pick.
- Click Save.
