Capturing serial numbers at receiving with an RF device
You can use these three variations of RF screens to facilitate the efficient capture of weight, serial numbers, or other data elements during RF receiving.
- Traditional
Use this screen to capture multiple data elements as part of the transaction. For example, both a weight and serial number will be captured.
- Multiple Serials
Use this screen to capture up to ten serial numbers with a single scan. This screen is available when the only data you capture is a serial number. If weight or other data is required for the item, use the Traditional screen previously described.
- Range Entry
Use this screen to capture only serial numbers if the item is configured to indicate the portion of the serial number that incremented. You enter the beginning and ending numbers to capture and the system records the other serials.
The DelaySnumCapture system setting ( ) affects the process flow for serial number capture during receiving:
If DelaySnumCapture is active, the system cancels the capture of the serial number immediately following the receipt. This is useful if you use different operators for receiving and serial capture.
- When
DelaySnumCapture is active, the receiver can
press
from the serial
capture screen on receipt. This completes the receipt but does not record the
serials linked to the receipt. You can use the
RF Serial Maintenance screen to record the
serial numbers against the receipt.
Note: The license plate cannot be put away until all of the serial numbers are correctly linked to the record.
- When DelaySnumCapture is inactive, the receiver cannot exit the receipt without recording all of the serial numbers.
