Measurements
In order to properly calculate charges, you must identify a unit level to use for your different charge types. The system can calculate charges based on a single unit of inventory, by weight, cube, temperature, by document, or by line.
Unit of measure codes identify the different handling units (cases, bales, pallets, and so on) as well as the measurement methods (inches, centimeters, cubic feet, pounds, kilograms, and so on) used to process inventory. The system uses this information when calculating charges.
Measurement conversion records identify the conversion factors between two units of measure of different measurement types (such as centimeters and inches) All standard units of measure and conversions between them are pre-configured on the system. You’ll only need to work through this step in the configuration process if you have custom units of measure you need to define.
The system comes with a set of pre-configured unit of measure codes. You’ll want to review these codes to determine if you need to create any additional codes to meet your specific billing requirements.
