Explanation - STD2 Scenario #2

  • Pre-allocation

The pre-allocation from this scenario is the same as with Scenario 1 because the inventory balances are the same. The STD2 pre-allocation process does not look at the inventory by unit of measure and uses the lot inventory strictly based on the rotation rules used. Therefore, all available inventory is used for the oldest (1-Mar) lot first, and the remaining quantity needed is pre-allocated from the next (1-Apr) lot.

  • Allocation

As with Scenario 1, all of the 1-Mar lot was in the same location so a pick is created for that. The 1-Apr lot is in two locations. In this scenario the allocation strategy detail line was modified to choose the location with the lowest quantity available instead of using the default configuration to select by location number. Because of this, the entire quantity was allocated from location C261 instead of C103. Location C261 had inventory Quantity=96, while location C103 has Quantity=180.
