Defining an Element

An element is a distinct step required to complete an operation task. The element header record includes a frequency unit to use for calculations. The frequency unit identifies the level at which the element is applied such as per pallet or per trip. Each element is composed of a set of sub-elements, which can be conditional. The observed time for the sub-elements and the frequency of occurrence is used to calculate the net time for the element.

Each element consists of a header record and a set of detail records, which identify the sub-elements that make up the element.
