Editing detail screens

If your role includes the SCE Designer profile, you can make design changes to existing detail screens within the Infor WMS application. If a screen is editable, an active edit icon is displayed within the detail screen.

To edit an existing detail screen in design mode:

  1. With the applicable screen displayed, click the Active Edit icon. The screen is displayed in form designer mode. The fields on the detail screen are displayed as widgets within the design mode form.
  2. Click Edit .
    • If another user is currently editing the screen, you cannot access the design mode. The design mode form is locked. Only one user at a time can access the design mode of a detail screen. A message indicating that a specific user is currently editing the screen is displayed. You cannot access the design mode until the other user exits the design mode or publishes the changes.
    • If the screen is not currently not locked, you can begin editing the screen within the design mode. The Save and Reset buttons are available.
    Note:  If you click Active Edit while editing in the design mode, the current changes are not saved and the design mode is closed.
  3. Complete the desired editing changes to the widgets within the design mode screen.
    • Move widget: You can move a widget by pointing at it with the cursor and dragging it to another position within the design mode form. Default (not edited) widgets are displayed in blue. If you make any changes to a widget, the widget color changes to orange. (If you save the changes made to the design mode form as described in Step 4 below, the edited widgets are displayed in purple. If you publish the changes made to the design mode form as described in Step 6 below, the edited widgets are displayed in green.)
    • Remove widget: You can remove a widget from the screen by pointing at it with the cursor and dragging it to the gray shaded area below the design mode form. When you move a widget to the gray area, changes made to the widget cannot be accessed. If you want to move the widget back into the screen, you can point and drag it back to an available location within the design mode form. Note that you cannot remove the widget of a required field on the detail screen. When you attempt to drag the widget to the gray shaded area, a message indicating it is a required widget is displayed.
    • Hide widget: With a widget selected, you can hide or show a widget by selecting True or False respectively from the Hidden property list. (A selected widget is indicated by a red outline border around it.) Note that you cannot hide the widget of a required field on the detail screen. The Hidden property list values are not available if a required widget is selected.
    • Read Only widget: With a widget selected, you can determine if the corresponding field on the detail screen is a read-only, non-editable field or an editable field by selecting True or False respectively from the Read Only property list. Note that you cannot change the widget read only status of a required field on the detail screen. The Read Only property list values are not available if a required widget is selected.
    • Require widget: With a widget selected, you can determine if the corresponding field on the detail screen is a required field or an optional field by selecting True or False respectively from the Required property list. Note that you cannot change the status of a required field on the detail screen. The Required property list values are not available if a required widget is selected.
    • Add Tool Tip: With a widget selected, you can specify a field-level help message/tool tip into the Tool Tip field. A saved tool tip is displayed when a user positions and hovers his mouse over the corresponding field on the screen, You can specify up to 250 characters into the Tool Tip field. Note that the tool tip content is not translated.

  5. Click Save to save the changes to the information stored within the database table. Any widgets you edited are displayed in purple.
    Before proceeding to Step 5 and publishing the detail screen changes to all Infor WMS application users within your organization, review the Understanding the design mode guidelines for information on the potential affect of screen design changes to data entry transactions.
  6. Prior to publishing the design changes to all Infor WMS application users within your organization (Step 6 below), perform a comprehensive test of applicable data entry end user scenarios for the edited detail screen. See Understanding design mode recommendations and guidelines for information on the potential affect of screen design changes to data entry transactions.
  7. Once you have completed all design changes and tested edited detail screens, click Publish.
    • The status of all corresponding records in the database table is updated to "Published".
    • The design mode form is no longer locked. Another authorized user can now access the screen for editing.
    • The edited widgets are displayed in green.
    • When you click Publish in a live production environment, the screen design changes are published to all Infor WMS application users within your organization.
    • Design mode forms are published at a tab level. For example, if two detail screens comprise the top and bottom screen portions displayed on a tab, design changes on both portions of the screen are published when you click Publish.

    If you do not want to save and/or publish changes, click Reset and select one of the Reset options:

    • Reset To Last Save - When you select this reset option, the current changes you made to the screen are not saved. Note that the design mode form remains locked for editing by you.
    • Reset to Last Published - When you select this reset option, the current changes you made to the screen are not saved. In addition, the saved changes you made since you last published are removed from the system. Note that this reset option does release your editing lock of the design mode form; another authorized user can make changes to the screen.
    • Reset to Factory - When you select this reset option, all current changes, saved changes, and published changes are removed from the system. Note that this reset option does release your editing lock of the design mode form; another authorized user can make changes to the screen.
  8. Click Close.
    • If you have made changes to the screen since you last saved, a confirmation message is displayed prompting you to save the changes.
    • If you select Yes, the current changes are saved and the design mode form is closed.
    • If you select No, the current changes are not saved and the design mode form is closed.
    • The design mode form is no longer locked. Another authorized user can access the screen for editing.
