Performing RF-assisted moves

Other options are available to allow RF operators to record product movement in the system at the same time they are physically moving inventory. This provides tight control of inventory accuracy and enhances warehouse productivity.

Two options are available for this type of move to make it easy to match the RF screen with the operational needs. They are:

  • Standard Move – An associate can move product based on the item number, and can move only part of the inventory for that item.
  • LPN Move – An associate is moving an entire license plate between locations. This screen provides the fewest number of scans or keystrokes required on the RF unit.

Both of these move options break the inventory move in to two steps.

  • The first step moves the inventory from the current location to a temporary or in-transit location. The in-transit location can be a default location used for all moves or can be something the operator updates during the move to accurately track where the inventory is. For example, the operator could enter a fork lift number as the in-transit location. Until step 2 of the process is completed, the system will show the inventory currently in the in-transit location.
  • The second step of the move confirms the inventory into the new location and/or license plate.

When completed, these RF move options will create two inventory transactions to properly record the movement from the initial location and license plate to the final location and license plate.
