Viewing Task Manager cycle counts

A cycle count refers to any instance in which locations are spot-checked to ensure that the WM balances and actual location quantities match. When you perform a cycle count, you are verifying the quantities in specific locations.

For each Task Manager/RF-directed count task you perform, information is recorded in the cycle count tables at Execution > Cycle Count > Maintenance. One cycle count maintenance header record is created for each count task. A cycle count maintenance detail record is created for each count performed for the count task.

For example, a user is given a count task, performs the necessary count, does not violate any variance constraints, and then presses Esc to finish and accept the count. One header and one detail are created.

In this instance, the header record has a status of Posted, the detail has a status of Posted, and any necessary adjustments to inventory are made. In example two, the user is given a count task, performs the necessary count, and violates a variance constraint. One header record is created with a status of Out of Variance and one detail is created with a status of Out of Variance. If the user chooses to count the location again, a new detail is created with the count information and is given the appropriate status.

Records displaying a Posted status cannot be edited. A Posted status is the result of one of two actions:

  • The application posted the last count made in RF-directed cycle counting. If the application posted the record, one of the following conditions existed:
    • The item counted had no cycle class assigned
    • The item had a cycle class assigned, but the last count was within the Dollar Variances and % Pos. or Neg. Variances.
  • The user reviewed a cycle count task in Not Posted or Out of Variance status, made the necessary adjustments, selected Posted status in the detail, and saved the record.
Note:
  • You can also create new records on the Cycle Count screen if you want to track an inventory change, enter the owner, item, location, lot, LPN, status, and qty. Counted.
  • When a status of Posted is selected, the application updates inventory levels with the amount posted (if different than current inventory levels).
  • Creating new records is not the recommended use for this screen; however, if you need to make an adjustment to inventory, see the Adjustment screen.
