Important points about shelf life

Important notes to remember when using Shelf Life include:

  • The difference between shelf life and date code days is that when using shelf life, the associate can pick any available pallets in any order, as long as they meet shelf life and rotational rules criteria. In contrast, date code days forces the associate to pick the oldest pallets first within the date range.
  • Shelf life can be used in conjunction with date code days. If both fields are set, the following calculation is used to establish the pick range boundaries:
    • Current date – Shelf Life = Lower Boundary
    • Lower Boundary + Date Code Days = Upper Boundary
  • Shelf life does not create a moving target. Only dates within the initial target range are allocated.
  • Shelf life date ranges filter to assigned case pick locations. A case picker can only select cases from a pallet ID that is within the shelf life date range. This prevents expired items from being selected in the case pick locations.
