Cartonization configuration

  1. Select Configuration > Cartons. The Cartonization screen is displayed.
  2. Click New to access the Cartonization detail view.
  3. Specify this information:
    Cartonization Number
Unique key assigned by the application to identify the carton. For example, if there were three cartons within a cartonization group, they would be sequenced according to size, starting with the largest size. Required.
    Carton Group
The carton group name; a code assigned to a family of cartons. Each item uses a single carton group based on the quantity ordered. Used to determine the best pack configuration for each order. Required.
    Carton Type
The descriptive name of the type or size of carton used, such as small or medium. Required.
    Use Sequence

Number that corresponds with the carton’s priority. This field records the order in which a carton should be selected within the cartonization group. For example, if there were three cartons within a cartonization group, they would be sequenced according to size starting with the largest size.

When you define a trailer type, the Use Sequence = 1 is the default trailer type when a new load is created through the user interface.

    Default Pallet Carton Type
This is the carton type that is assigned to the pick when a full pallet quantity is allocated. You can define only one carton with this flag active. In a new database installation, a default PALLET record is created.

    Maximum Weight
Maximum gross weight the carton can hold. Required.
    Cube
Records the maximum cubic size for an item the carton can hold. Required.

    Positions Assigned by System

If the check box is selected, the system randomly assigns positions for picks. During the RF pick confirm process, you can view the position to place a Case ID when picking to a Cart (Equipment ID).
    Load Staging Pallet Conversion
Value used for the load staging pallet conversion process. The field value must be >= 0. The default value is 0 for new records.
  4. Click Save.
Note:  The Import and Export selections are available in the Cartonization list view. In addition to the functionality defined in the Infor WMS Introduction and Navigation User Guide, the import and export features within the Cartonization list view have been expanded.
    • You can click Import to import Microsoft Excel data to either create new records or update existing records. Infor WMS validates the field values before either new records are inserted or existing records are updated. If a validation fails, the import log record indicates the error file.
    • When you click Export, both header and detail data are exported to a Microsoft Excel file. As in other existing areas within Infor WMS, the header and detail values are exported to separate tabs in the Excel file.
