Applying the 2D barcode format template

if a 2D barcode does not have a barcode prefix/symbology identifier, the barcode format name can be assigned to the screens listed below. The system attempts to resolve the barcode scan by checking for the barcode format name in the following order.

  • Ship From Trading Partner - The system first checks to see if a Ship From exists on a received ASN. If the Ship From does exist, the system then checks if a barcode format name exists on the Miscellaneous tab within the Ship From configuration. If a barcode format name is available, this is the barcode format used during scanning.
Note:  If the same item is supplied by different vendors, then the unique barcode format must be listed on the Ship From Miscellaneous tab for each vendor. In addition, Ship From must be on the ASN.
  • Item - If the system does not find a barcode format for the Ship From (on the ASN), the system checks General tab for the Item to see if a barcode format name exists on that screen.
  • Owner - If the Item did not contain the barcode format, the system then checks the Owner information.
  • Facility - In case the system does not find a barcode format on Ship From, Item, or Owner, you should set up a default format at Facility level. You can set up the barcode format that is used as the Facility default.
Note: If the 2D barcode has a symbology/prefix identifier encoded on the barcode, the barcode format name does not have to be tied to any of the locations within WM that are listed above. The identifier can be added to the brcd.ini RF configuration file. See Infor WMS Administrator's Guide for information on this configuration file and on configuring other RF files.
