Capturing weight, serial, and data during receipt overview

When receiving items into the warehouse, you might need to capture weight and data, such as serial numbers or manufacturing numbers for certain products. This additional information required for the item can be recorded using the RF device or by adding through the workstation if needed. Regardless of the method being used, the operator is notified the item requires additional information to be captured.

After you scan or input the item during receiving, the application identifies whether the item is configured to catch weight and/or specific data, and displays the corresponding fields. You can enter weight and data for the item in these fields. Examples of data include serial numbers and manufacturing numbers.

The number of catch weight/catch data capture records that displays on an RF device is based on how the pack is defined on the item configuration screen, such as each, case, or pallet.

For example, the average weight of 100 is based on a UOM of CS if the following conditions exist:

  • Pack for Item 123 is 1/10/100
  • Average Weight is 100
  • Capture Weight/Data By is set to CS
  • Quantity received is 30 eaches

Then, the Average Weight of 100 is based on a UOM of CS.

The number of capture lines would equal 3 and displays one-by-one on the RF device screen as you specify data. For example, record 1 of 3, then 2 of 3, and then 3 of 3.
