Maintaining work centers

Work centers manage the process flow of goods into, through, and out of the work center area. The work center contains the locations used for the various steps of the assembly process.

  1. Select Work Order > Configuration > Work Center.
  2. Click New.
  3. Specify this information:
    Field Description
    Work Center Name Code that identifies the name of the work center.
    Description Text describing the Work Center.
    Inbound Drop Zone Location where picked components are staged to begin the assembly process.
    Task Move to Work Zone If a Move task is to be created to transfer product from the Inbound Drop Zone to the Work Zone, select this check box.
    Work Zone Location Location where the assembly process begins.
    Note: if the components are initially staged in the same location where the assembly process begins, the Inbound Drop Zone and the Work Zone are the same.
    Task Move to Operation Complete Drop Zone If a Move task needs to be created to move product from the Work Zone to the Operation Complete Zone after the first operation is complete, select this check box.
    Operation Complete Drop Zone Location where goods are to be moved after the operation is marked as Complete.
    Task Move to Next Operation Component Drop Zone If a Move task needs to be created to move product from the Operation Complete Zone to the beginning point for the next step of the operation, select this check box.
    Finished Goods Drop Zone Final location where goods are placed when the entire work center operation is completed.
    Task Move to Finished Goods Drop Zone If a Move task needs to be generated by the system to move the completed finished goods from the Operation Complete Zone to the Finished Goods Drop Zone, select this check box.
  4. To save your changes, click Save.
