Defining operations

Operations are defined in the Work Order module to determine the types of activities that will take place. Common examples of Operations are assembly, kitting, labeling, and packaging.

To add a new operation:

  1. Select Work Order > Configuration > Operation.
  2. Click New.
  3. In Operation Name specify the operation type; for example, Assembly.
  4. In Description, specify a description of the operation.
  5. In Operation Type, select an operation type. Your choices are:
    • Joins Components into Parent Inventory: Component inventory is depleted. Assembly would normally be classified as this type.
    • Operation Does Not Change Inventory: Inventory is not impacted. An operation, such as packaging would normally be classified in this category.
  6. To save your changes, click Save.
