Understanding EAN and 2D Barcodes

Barcode technology allows vendors to create labels that include multiple bits of data within a single barcode. In addition, with 2D barcodes becoming more prevalent across all industries, the amount of data that can now be stored in a single barcode increases exponentially.

Infor WMS allows a receiver to scan either a UCC/EAN 128 or 2D barcode during entry of an RF receipt. The system recognizes the scan of this barcode, parses the information into its individual data elements, and populates the appropriate RF fields. This functionality has been designed to allow for flexible configuration at each specific installation based on specific needs. See the Infor WMS Administrator's Guide for additional information to identify and handle both UCC/EAN 128 and 2D barcodes.
