Assigning Sub-Elements
Each element can reference multiple sub-elements. You can either review information in the list view, or you can click the Detail icon to display the assigned sub-element details in a window. The window also displays when you create a new sub-element assignment.
To assign new sub-elements to this element, you must be in edit mode.
- On the Assigned Sub-Element toolbar, click New. The system displays the Edit Sub-Element Header/Detail window.

Specify this information:
- Sequence
- The sequence in which the system should evaluate and calculate this sub-element. When calculating standards, the system uses the sequence values to determine the order in which to evaluate each sub-element assigned to the element.
- Sub-Element
- Specify the sub-element assigned to the element at this sequence.
- Active
- Displays the Active setting of this sub-element. Only active sub-elements are considered in labor calculations. You cannot change this value here; you can only change this value on the original Sub-Element record.
- Frequency of Occurrence
- The number of times this sub-element occurs during the completion of this element. The system uses frequency information to calculate net normal time for the sub-element.
- Normal Time
- The time to complete this sub-element activity. You specify this value on the original sub-element record, and you cannot change it here.
- Net Normal Time
- The system-calculated net time to complete this sub-element when this action is performed as part of the element. This is the sum of the frequency of occurrence and the observed time. You cannot edit this information.
- Last Updated by
- The user that last updated this record.
- Last Updated on
- The date and time this record was last updated.
- Notes
- Any comments or notes about this sub-element as it is used with this element.
- To assign conditions to this sub-element, complete the steps in the Assigning Conditions to a Sub-Element section.
- Click Save.
