Weight/Data tab
The following optional fields can be configured on the Weight/Data tab to control weight and data capture during inbound and outbound processing.
End to End Serial Tracking
This indicates if the item requires full tracking of each serial number through the warehouse. If this is turned on, the serial numbers impacted by each warehouse operation will need to be identified by the user if the inventory unit is split as part of the transaction. If the entire license plate is affected, the user will not have to indicate the specific serial numbers.
If end to end tracking is used, the user will also be required to activate Inbound Catch Data and Outbound Catch Data for the item. Additional fields (Weight, Other 2, Other 3, Other 4, Other 5) can also be captured for inbound receipts or outbound shipments as needed.
Inbound Receipts
Inbound Catch Weight
Indicates if weight and/or data is captured during receiving. If this option is selected, you must also enter the average weight and tolerance%.
Average Net Weight
The average weight of the item based on the UOM selection in the Capture Weight By field. If Inbound Catch weight is set to Yes, you must enter the average weight.
This flag cannot be turned on if the Inbound Summary RF Weight Capture flag on the Summary Weight tab is active. An item cannot be configured to capture both the average weight and the summary weight.
Capture Weight/Data By
How the average received weight is captured or measured: EA (eaches), CS (cases), PL (pallets), as well as how many capture lines are provided for catch weight/catch data based on the item’s pack.
For example:
- Pack for Item 123 is 1-10-100
- Average Weight is defined as 100
- Capture Weight/Data By is set to CS
- Quantity Received is 2 PL
- The Average Weight of 100
is based on a UOM of
CS
The number of capture lines would equal 20, based on Item 123’s pack, and the Capture Weight/Data By selection CS.
Tare Weight
Tare weight refers to the weight in excess of the physical units being stored. An example of tare weight is the packaging that is not part of the item. The system subtracts this value from the weight captured, and then compares the difference against the Average Weight to determine whether it falls within the tolerance level.
Tolerance (%)
Allowable deviation of weight (positive or negative) based on the average weight entered.
Tolerance % must be entered if Inbound Catch Weight is set to Yes. You cannot have a tolerance value based on an average weight of 0.00. Average weight must be greater than 0.00.
Tolerance % can be greater than 100%. This prevents you from validating against an average weight when capturing weights inbound. The result is that the captured weight always falls within the tolerance level.
Inbound Catch Data
Indicates if catch data (including a serial number) is to be captured during receiving. Options are Yes or No. If this field is set to Yes, you must define at least one Catch Data label.
Inbound Serial Unique
Indicates if the system should validate the uniqueness of the data captured upon receipt. This field only applies if End to End Tracking is turned off. If End to End serial tracking is required for the item, the system automatically requires the serial numbers to be unique. Uniqueness is validated based on the Data 1 field, which is labeled Serial # on this screen.
Catch Data Labels (Serial #, Other 2, Other 3, Other 4, Other 5)
Label assigned to the catch data header on the RF, ASN/Receipt, and Catch Weight windows. If Inbound Catch Data is set to Yes, you must define at least one Catch Data label (Serial #, Other 2, Other 3, Other 4, Other 5).
Outbound Shipments
Outbound Catch Weight
Indicates whether weight is captured during picking/shipping. If this option is selected, you are not required to enter Average Weight and Tolerance %.
Average Net Weight
Average item weight based on the UOM selection in the Capture Weight By field. This field is not required. If the Outbound Catch Weight is set to Yes, the average weight needs to be defined.
This flag cannot be turned on if the Outbound Summary RF Weight Capture flag on the Summary Weight tab is active. An item cannot be configured to capture both the average weight and the summary weight.
No Entry of Total Weight
Entry of a total weight value for a pick detail line corresponding to the Item. If this field is selected, the picker is required to enter individual weights for quantities picked based on the Capture Weight/Data By selection. If this field is not selected, the picker can record a total weight for the entire quantity being picked and is not forced to input individually.
The default is selected. It is strongly suggested that you leave this field selected unless the particular circumstance allows or demands entry of total weights for items being picked.
Tolerance (%)
Tolerance is the allowable deviation of weight (positive or negative) based on the average net weight that you enter.
Tolerance % must be entered if the Inbound Catch Weight is set to Yes. You cannot have a tolerance value based on an average weight of 0.00. Average weight must be greater than 0.00.
Tolerance % can be greater than 100%. This prevents you from validating against an average weight when capturing weights inbound. The result is that the captured weight always falls within the tolerance level.
UOM for Weight/Data/Serial Capture
How the average picked weight is captured or measured: EA (eaches), CS (cases), PL (pallets), as well as how many capture lines are provided for catch weight/catch data based on the item’s pack.
For example:
- Pack for Item 123 is 1-10-100
- Average Weight is defined as 100
- Capture Weight/Data By is set to CS
- Quantity Received is 2 PL
- The Average Weight of 100
is based on a UOM of
CS
The number of capture lines equal 20, based on Item 123’s pack, and the Capture Weight/Data By selection CS.
Outbound Catch Data
Outbound catch data indicates whether catch data is captured during outbound processing. Options are Yes or No. If this field is set to Yes, you must define at least one Catch Data label.
Allow Customer Override
Customer’s ability to request the outbound catch weight option, in the event the Item’s Outbound Catch Weight field has not been set to Yes. This field is not active if Outbound Catch Weight = Yes.
Outbound Serial Unique
Indicates if the system should validate uniqueness of the data captured for outbound orders. This field only applies if End to End Tracking is turned off. If End to End serial tracking is required for the item, the system automatically requires the serial numbers to be unique. Uniqueness is validated based on the Data 1 field, which is labeled Serial # on this screen.
Catch Data Labels (Serial #, Other 2, Other 3, Other 4, Other 5)
Label assigned to the catch data header on the RF, Shipment Order, and Catch Weight windows. If Outbound Catch Data is set to Yes, you must define at least one Catch Data label (Serial #, Other 2, Other 3, Other 4, Other 5).
Catch When
Determines when in the outbound process the user is required to capture the weight and/or data. Possible values are;
At Pick – the picker will be prompted to capture the required weight/data information as each pick is recorded.
At Pack – the packer is prompted to capture the required weight/data information during the pack process.
Catch Quantity 1
This field is only active if the Catch When value is set to At Pack. Possible values are;
Enter Any Quantity – When capturing the catch weight/data information during packing the operator can pack any quantity of the item (up to the amount ordered and picked) and apply the same catch data information to all these units. An example of this is recording the Country of Origin for the product during packing, as multiple units of the same item could have the same country of origin.
Quantity Always 1 – When packing, the user is required to record the weight/data for each unit separately.
