Creating flow thru orders

Flow thru outbound orders work very similar to regular shipment orders. The main difference is flow thru orders are linked to specific purchase orders, so when the ASN containing the purchase order is received the inventory is automatically allocated so the orders can be picked

Flow Thru Orders identify the expected customer distribution for items on the purchase order they are linked to. A separate Outbound Flow Thru Order is created for each Purchase Order and Ship To customer. Multiple items can be included on the outbound flow thru order as long as they are also included on the Purchase Order

To create a flow thru order using the application user interface, perform the following:

  1. From the Facility list, select a specific warehouse.
  2. Select Crossdock > Management > Flow Thru Order to open the Flow Thru Order screen.
  3. Click New to create a new order. The Order Type will default to Flow Thru for the new order.
  4. Specify the header information for the order. Key fields to be completed for Flow Thru Orders include:
    Owner
Owner of the inventory to be received and shipped.
    Flow Thru Purchase Order
The purchase order number the flow thru order is to be linked to. Enter the purchase order number or use the lookup feature to select a flow thru purchase order.
    Customer
Ship To location for the flow thru order.
    Apportion
This flag indicates whether or not apportionment rules should be used to manage the quantity to allocate, if the quantity actually received varies from quantity expected. This flag will default as ON. If this flag is checked, the system will use the Automatic Apportionment Rule from the Owner configuration if apportionment is needed.

See the Viewing owner apportionment status for information on the various types that can be used.

  5. Complete the detail portion of the screen including the Item and Order Qty fields.
  6. Click Save to confirm the outbound flow thru order
  7. If additional line items are needed, click New from the detail portion of the screen.
