Defining labor planning

Use the Labor Plan screen to review system-calculated labor requirements and to change user assignments to meet labor demands. You can use the Work Adjustment and User Adjustment screens to modify the plan information.

By default, the plan is sorted by activity and then by zone. You can drag column headers on the list area to the appropriate position on the list header to change the sorting method or to add secondary sorting methods.

For example, to sort by Shift and then by Zone:

  • Drag the Shift column header to the first position on the list header.
  • Drag the Zone column header to the next position to the right of the Shift column.

To review the labor plan:

  1. From the Labor menu, select Planning > Labor Planning.
  2. Select a plan.
    • Plans are available by date and version. Each time you modify a plan, the system creates a new version number.
    • To select a plan, first select the Plan Date, and then select the Version you want to view.
  3. Use the fields below to define plan information. The system displays the fields based on the sorting method you select. The fields may not be in the same order as they are described here.
    Plan Date
The date for the displayed labor plan. The available date range is a facility setting.
    Version
The version of the labor plan for given date.
    Zone
The zone where the activity takes place.
    Activity
The type of work, or process, that is planned and tracked by shift for the given day. There are four types of activities. See Activity Overview.
    Shift
These are the time periods during which users are working.
    Planned Work
The planned, or anticipated, daily work volume for the given activity and shift. The system calculates planned work based on the information transmitted from WMS. Planned work is based on the units defined in the Units column.
    Units
These are the units in which the work is measured. These are from the activity configuration. The types of units include:
    • Cases
    • Tasks
    • Pallets
    • Users for scheduled activity types
    Planned Hours
The calculated time in man hours that are required to complete the given number of planned work units. The system calculates the planned hours based on the activity information.
    Planned Users
The planned hours converted into the number of equivalent full-time equivalent users (system-calculated). The calculation assumes one person works one complete shift.
    Assigned Users
The number of users assigned to the listed work units. This is from the work schedule.
+/- Users (Assigned Users – Planned Users)
This value indicates whether user or worker resources are under- or over-allocated for the planned work load. The numeric value represents a user. A positive value indicates surplus resources and a negative value indicates insufficient resources.
    Status
The current status of the given activity. The statuses include:
    • Initial
    • In-process
    • Finished
Note: When a line is Finished, the percentages of the users for that activity are locked and you cannot make changes.
