Using config mode

Config mode lets you configure the look and feel of fields and buttons to enhance the application’s usability and flexibility. You can perform these types of changes through config mode:

  • Setting field level security.
  • Setting page timeouts.
  • Localizing text for field and button names. For example, change the GO button to say "Continue".
  • Localizing field input types. For example, change an input type from a string field to a drop-down list when a user should only select a value from a preset list.
  • Localizing language. For example, change a button label from the English “Finish” to the French “Terminer”.

When you enable config mode, the current application page refreshes and the orange diamond and key and lock symbols are displayed throughout the application. Hyperlinks with a JSP extension are also displayed at the top of each page or window.

Click the symbols and links to specify localizations and page properties. When config mode is disabled, the symbols disappear and the changes that you configured are displayed.
