Scheduling

These elements comprise an employee's schedule:

  • Shifts define the start and end times of each day in the schedule.
  • Shift breaks define any work stoppages (meals, scheduled breaks, etc.).
  • Shift patterns order shifts in a repeating pattern over a set number of days. These patterns can be straight and simple workweeks or complex rotating patterns of multiple shifts that only repeat monthly. The shift patterns include all the shifts and days off that make a complete, repeating cycle.
  • Shift premiums are extra compensation that is paid to employees for working undesirable shifts, such as the graveyard shift.
  • Shift premium zones define the conditions when premiums are paid.

This chapter covers only the standard Time and Attendance scheduling module. For information on additional scheduling modules such as Schedule Optimization or the Multiview Scheduler, consult the specific documents for each module.
