Setting shift pattern offsets

You can stagger the days in a shift pattern using shift pattern offsets so employees can work the same repeating pattern of shifts but on different calendar days. The shift pattern offset is a number that the application adds to the shift pattern's day number when determining which day falls on a specific calendar date.

For example, if a shift pattern's day 2 falls on January 15, an employee with a shift pattern offset of 4 works day 6 on January 15.

To set the shift pattern offset for an employee:

  1. Select Maintenance > Employees > Employee Basic Information - Override.
  2. Select the employee whose shift pattern offset you want to set using the Employee lookup, and click Go.
  3. Specify the shift pattern offset (a whole number) in the Shift Pattern Offset field.
  4. Optionally, clear the Permanent check box at the bottom of the page and specify a date in the Override End Date field. The application staggers the employee's schedule based on the shift pattern offset until the specified end date.
Otherwise, the shift pattern offset is kept indefinitely. You must manually change the employee to another shift pattern offset.
  5. Click Submit.
