Payroll Based Journal Export for CMS Scheduled Report

As part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires long term care facilities to report direct care staffing information based on payroll information. To this end, the CMS has developed the Payroll Based Journal (PBJ) system to collect this information. This report allows you to export the employee staffing information and hours needed by CMS directly from the system. The report will display employee Hire and Termination dates, as well as any hours worked for the facility selected. This process outputs a Workmail message with an Excel formatted report for verification and an XML formatted report which will be used to upload to the PBJ system.

Note: To successfully run this report and obtain valid output, you must first complete all the configuration steps outlined in the "Configuring MVS for the Payroll Based Journal Export for CMS report" chapter of the Infor Workforce Management MVS Implementation and Administration Guide.

You have two options for the PBJ report:

  1. You can specify all of the Selection Parameters and run the report now which will allow you to download the report in Excel format. For more information on how to do this, see Running the Payroll Based Journal Export for CMS report.
  2. You can schedule the report to generate a Workmail message with the attached report in Excel and XML format. In this format, the report is only available via the Workmail message. For more information on how to do this, see Scheduling the Payroll Based Journal Export for CMS report.
