Overview

Using the Schedule Bidding module, employees’ schedules can be determined through a bidding process. At a predefined time, employees can select which schedules they want to work during a specified period by either:

  • Ranking a list of available shifts or shift patterns.
  • Selecting a shift or shift pattern from a list of available shifts or shift patterns.

The Schedule Bidding module lets companies mass-assign shifts or shift patterns to employees based on an automated employee ranking and bidding system. The Schedule Bidding module determines the employee bid order. When it's an employee’s turn to bid, the employee can select or rank the shifts and shift patterns they want to work. The results of the bids are calculated and employees are notified of the shifts or shift pattern they have been assigned.

This example summarizes a common scenario for the Schedule Bidding module:

A large manufacturing company has 2500 employees that are assigned shift patterns biannually. Using the Schedule Bidding module, administrators set up a schedule bid and determine which employee groups are required to bid. After a system administrator opens the bid, employees receive notification of their bidding windows. Bidding windows are the time periods that have been allocated for each employee to bid on the schedule. When all the employees have bid, the results are calculated. Employees are then notified of the shift patterns they have been assigned using e-mail messages. The employees’ schedules are automatically updated with the new shift patterns.
