Purging the clock database: 8000 and 9000 Series clocks

Clock system administrators can now purge the clock database to remove all data from the clock, including transactional data. This can be useful if you are:

  • Moving a clock to a new environment and want to remove all data from the clock that is specific to the old environment.
  • Returning a clock to the vendor for repairs or another reason and want to remove all data that could contain personally identifiable information (PII).
Note: Removing this data is often a requirement of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) law on data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area. Similar laws exist in other jurisdictions.

This database purge process is only available to system administrators and does not remove any clock system logs or clock application logs which may be required for troubleshooting. Fingerprint templates are also removed from the clock.
