Replace Shift Type rule for auto-assignment

If you are generating a schedule far in advance, you may want to generate "placeholder" or generic shifts for employees and not provide too many details for shift assignments. For example, the employee will know the day and time they are working, but will not know the exact details of their assignment. For this process, you can use a regular shift template when generating the schedule.

At a later point in time when you want to generate the final schedule and provide more details to employees, you can utilize the Replace shift type rule to replace the employee placeholder shifts with more detailed shifts. The times and the shift itself (Sat 9-5) will not change, but the details of the shift will be more complete. Shifts will now contain all of the details employees require for their assignments. For this process, you can use a replacement shift template.

You can also remove unassigned shifts during the auto-assignment process.
