Add or modify census data

Once you have defined your census requirements for the specified date-range, you can now begin modifying your census data as it relates to your unit on an ongoing basis. The census numbers entered here are used to perform a look-up of the number of employees required, as defined on the Define Census Teams and Requirements page.

Once you enter your census numbers on this page, and click Update from Census in the Staffing Requirements, the system will use these numbers in order to drive the actual staffing requirements.

The system differentiates between actual data (data entered on the current date and based on actual bed count) and budgeted data (data entered for future dates and based on estimated bed counts). Data entered 'today' is automatically flagged as actual rather than forecasted. Reports that show actual versus budgeted data can be generated based on this flag.

To add or modify census data:

  1. Select Scheduling > Multi-view Scheduler > Advanced Settings > Add/modify Census Data.
    The Selection Parameters page is displayed.
  2. Select a team name from the Census Team Name drop-down list.
  3. Select the date for which you want to enter or edit census data in the Start Week Date field.
  4. Click Go.

    The Populate Data page is displayed.

  5. Enter the estimated number of beds expected to be filled for each day part and day of the week.
  6. Click Submit.
    The census data is saved.
This information is used with the census requirements to determine staffing levels based on census.
