Toolbar Panel

The MVS Toolbar panel is comprised of a number of tools that allow you to act on the retrieved schedule in a variety of ways.

Not all tools are available in all views.

Toolbar Panel Operation Description
Sort Allows you to sort the data in the retrieved schedule by first name, last name, or ID in either ascending or descending order. Customized UDF fields and/or employee details (EMP_VALs) fields displayed in a shift can also be used for sorting. For information about EMP_VALs, see Displaying Additional Details using Employee Details (EMP_VAL).
Change View Allows you to change the view used to display the retrieved schedule in the Schedule panel. The following views are available:
  • Job Requirements
  • Scheduled Team
  • Employee
  • Day Part
  • Schedule Period
  • Intraday
For information about MVS views, see Views.
Change Schedule Period Allows you to move forward or backward within a multi-week schedule period once a schedule has been retrieved. If you move beyond the start or end of the currently-retrieved schedule period, the next schedule period is automatically retrieved. For information about schedule periods, see Schedule Periods.
Auto Assign Allows you to automatically assign the most-qualified, eligible employees to unstaffed shifts based on staffing requirements, employee job qualifications, and either employee shift patterns or availability. For more information, see Auto-Assignments.
Publish Allows you to do the following:
  • Post the currently retrieved schedule to the ETM for employees to view
  • Save the schedule details to the application timesheet
  • Display the Notification panel (if configured), which allows you to determine who should be notified about the publication and how they should be notified.
The Publish button is disabled (grayed out) in the following circumstances:
  • If there are schedule compliance errors or unapproved warning violations. You cannot publish a schedule until all error violations are resolved and warning violations are resolved or approved. For more information, see Schedule Compliance.
  • Once the schedule has been published. You cannot publish a schedule until further changes are made to it. For more information, see Publishing the MVS Schedule.
Clear Allows you to remove all changes to the schedule since the last time the schedule was published. For information, see Clearing Employee Assignments.
Schedule Period Statistics Allows you to view real-time statistics for the retrieved schedule period. The Required Hours and Required Jobs columns compare outstanding staffing requirements to already filled required jobs. Both of these calculations are for the entire retrieved schedule period. For information about viewing statistics, see Viewing Schedule Statistics.
Locate Allows you to find employees in the currently retrieved schedule. For information about locating employees, see Locating employees in schedules.
Copy Allows you to specify which shift details of the source shift to copy to the target shift. For information about copying shifts, see Copying Shift Details.
Swap Allows you to exchange shifts between two scheduled employees. The shifts can be of different lengths, days, and even jobs, as long as both employees are eligible and available to work each other's shifts. For information about swapping shifts, see Swapping Shifts.
Print Allows you to display a PDF report of the current view, from any of the available views. This PDF report can be reviewed, printed, or saved using Acrobat Reader's (or equivalent) native functionality. For information about printing schedules, see Printing the MVS Schedule.
Filter Allows you to filter the current view of the schedule. The elements available to help you filter the display depends upon the view you are currently using. If a filter is currently applied to the schedule, the Filter button on the Toolbar panel appears bold and blue. For information about filtering schedules, see Filtering Schedules.
Group by Job or Employee Allows you to select how you want to group items beneath their teams. You can group shifts by job or by employee. This button is a toggle, so, to choose the alternative option, click it again. The text on the button indicates which grouping is currently in effect. This button is available in Scheduled Team view only.
