Verifying Staffing Requirement Coverage

Staffing requirement coverage is the actual number of employees scheduled compared to the required number of employees needed for a time slot. If 5 employees are scheduled for a time slot, but 10 are needed, coverage would be displayed as understaffed by 50%.

If Day Parts mode or Day Parts with Interval mode is being used, staffing requirement coverage information is displayed in the day part (top-most) row of the Intraday schedule display.

The following conditions apply to coverage calculations as shown on the Intraday page:

  • In Day Parts mode or Day Parts with Interval mode, staffing requirement coverage at the day part level is always shown as a percentage, unless the required number of employees is 0. In this case, coverage is displayed as a ratio. For example, 2/0 where 0 is the required number of employees and 2 is the allocated number of employees.
  • In Day Parts mode or Day Parts with Interval mode, if a day part crosses midnight for a selected day, staffing requirement coverage is displayed for the entire day part and not just for the day part hours displayed within the 24-hour duration.
  • For all modes (Day Part, Day Part with Interval, and Job Requirements), staffing requirement coverage is shown at the job level while summed coverage of all jobs is displayed at the team level.

Staffing requirement coverage statistics apply to the team and job levels. Coverage at the team level is a sum of staffing requirement coverage numbers from the various jobs included in the team. Therefore, a matching ratio of scheduled employees to required employees at the team level does not necessarily mean that staffing requirement coverage is resolved. To get a full view of actual staffing requirement coverage, always look at the job level.

For example, the staffing requirement coverage at the team level might display a matching ratio of scheduled employees to required employees, but when one looks at the job level, the job coverage ratios might be off.
