Qualification expiry in self-scheduling

Self-scheduling processes allow employees to select the shifts they will work in the future. These future shifts may be past the date when an employee's job or skill qualifications expire, even though the employee possesses all the necessary qualifications today. This may be inconvenient for certifications or licenses that must be renewed on an annual or other recurring basis, which employees are expected to renew on time to continue working.

The Self Scheduler screen can be configured to determine if employees can select shifts on days after their job and skill qualifications have expired. When the registry parameter ALLOW_EMPLOYEE_FUTURE_QUALIFICATION_EXPIRY is set to true, employees may select shifts based on the job and skill qualifications that are valid at the time when the employee logs into the Self Scheduler. For example, an RN has an ICU skill that expires on December 31, 2018. If they log in to the Self Scheduler before January 1, they can select any shifts in 2019 that require the ICU skill. If they log in on or after January 1, the skill is no longer valid, and they would not be shown the shifts.

When this parameter is set to false, all job and skill qualifications must not be expired for the employee on the date of the shift. If the employee has a qualification that expires before the shift date, the Self Scheduler screen does not show the shift to the employee as an available option. In the above example, if the registry is set to false, the RN employee cannot select any shifts requiring the ICU skill that take place on or after January 1, 2019, regardless of what date the employee logs in.
