Configuring the clock buttons displayed on the homepage

When clocking using a phone, the Clock widget contains two buttons, ON and OFF, for quick clocking activities. For all other clocking activities, users must navigate to a secondary page where they pick the clock type and then the associated data element related to that clock.

To simplify the recording of non-ON/OFF clocks, you can define additional clock buttons on the Clock widget by leveraging clock presets. For example, if employees at your organization record breaks using clock activities other than ON and OFF, you can define clock presets named START MEAL and END MEAL with the associated clock data and then add those presets as buttons on the widget. When an employee goes on break, they can tap the START MEAL button on the homepage and then, assuming all validation constraints are met, confirm the clock. Similarly, when their break ends, they can tap the END MEAL button on the homepage.

Note: For information on creating clocks presets, see the Infor Workforce Management Daily Timesheet User Guide.

When configuring the clock buttons displayed on the homepage, you define the order in which the buttons are presented and the color that is used to render the buttons.

To define additional clock buttons on the Clock widget:

  1. In the desktop application, select Maintenance > Reader Setup > Clock Preset. The clock presets defined for your organization are displayed.
  2. Click Edit beside the clock preset that you want to add as a button on the Clock widget.
  3. Specify the relative position of the clock preset in the Widget Order field. The clock buttons are displayed in a two-column format, where presets with an odd widget order value are presented in column 1 and presets with an even widget order are presented in column 2.

This table shows the layout of the buttons in a grid:

    1 2
    3 4
    5 6

By default, the ON button is displayed in position 1 and the OFF button is displayed in position 2.

You can define additional clock buttons by specifying the relative position of the preset in this field. For example, to add the START MEAL preset in position 3, specify 3 in the Widget Order field. To add the END MEAL preset in position 4, specify 4 in the Widget Order field. Only the clock presets that have a value in the Widget Order field are displayed as buttons on the Clock widget.

Note: If the clock preset order is non-contiguous, the order will be re-defined so that there are no gaps on the page. For example, if the collective preset order is defined as {1, 2, 3, 6), the presets will be displayed as though the defined order was {1, 2, 3, 4}. If the same number is used for multiple clock presets, the presets will be rendered according to their internal ID, in ascending order.
  4. Optionally, specify the color that is used to render the button of the clock preset in the Color lookup. If you do not specify a color, the button is rendered in gray.
By default, the ON button is rendered in green and the OFF button is rendered in red.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Return to form listing.
  7. Repeat the previous steps until you have specified the relative positioning and color of all the clock presets that you want to display as buttons on the Clock widget.
