Performing Advanced Searches

Advanced searches are a set of search criteria based on location names, location types, property values, or any combination thereof. You can use advanced searches to perform complex searches across the location tree to find entities that meet the specified criteria. (If no criteria is specified, only the Parent location is displayed.)

For example, you could search for all locations with a name starting with “Downtown”, the location type equal to Store, and the Square Footage equal to 5000. This search helps you to find all stores in your organization that function in the capacity of Downtown and have a size of 5000 square feet.

After you have performed an advanced search, location tree icons are displayed in either blue or grey. When a location’s icon appears blue, you can click on the icon to select the location. The selected location displays that entity’s information and the information for the contents of that entity (child locations) in the Details Pane.

The location tree may contain locations with gray icons. Gray icons means the location tree is displaying as a result of a search. The gray locations are not selectable because they do not match the applied location filter. However, an unselectable location can contain selectable child locations that do match the applied location filter.

When you perform a search using an advanced search, the advanced search limits the nodes that appear in the location tree to the results that meet the search values. The advanced search also affects the search results displayed in the Results section of the Details Pane. From the Results section, entities can be viewed or acted upon in a variety of ways. For more information about the Results section, see Results Section.

The Clear button allows you to clear all field values and refresh the location tree and Results section table.
