Configuration Editor Main Components

The major components of the Configuration Editor are:

  • Navigation Pane
  • Details Pane.

You can use the Configuration Editor feature by navigating or searching the contents of your organization or applying optional filters using the Navigation Pane. A set of results is displayed in the Results section of Details Pane, from which you can further refine the results to identify the data (work set) that you want to manage. Once you have your work set, you can add, edit or delete entities or modify any related components within the Entity Details section.

The Navigation Pane contains these sections:

  • Location section (Displayed in the upper left quadrant of the Configuration Editor page, in the upper half of the Navigation Pane.)

The Location section contains a location tree, which you can use to view the hierarchical arrangement of your organization. The Location section also contains advanced search functionality that you can use to perform complex searches across the location tree.

  • Operations section (Displayed in the lower left quadrant of the Configuration Editor page, in the lower half of the Navigation Pane.)

The Operations section contains the entity type drop-down-list box and the filters related to the selected entity type. You can search for a particular type of entity and apply filters to return specific results.

The Details Pane contains these sections:

  • Results section (Displayed in the upper right quadrant of the Configuration Editor page, in the upper half of the Details Pane.)

The Results section displays details regarding the selections in the location tree, results of an advanced search or a search performed using the Operations section.

  • Entity Details section (Sometimes displays in the lower right quadrant of the Configuration Editor page, in the lower half of the Details Pane.)

Depending which entity type you have selected from the drop-down-list box in the Operations section, different information is available in the Entity Details section. For example, if you have either stores or departments selected, the Entity Details section displays Hours of Operation and Properties tabs.

For many entity types, including location types, corporate entities, distribution types, distributions, forecast groups, drivers, activities and volume types, there are no entity details. When the types are selected in the Navigation Pane, the Entity Details section is not displayed.
