  1. Select Scheduling > Schedule Optimization > Setup > Location.
  2. Click Edit beside the department location for which you want to set up staffing requirements.
  3. Click Staff Requirements.
  4. If you have existing staffing requirements, select a date range in the From and To fields to display entries according to their effective dates.
Entries with effective dates that fall within the date range that you specify will be displayed in the Volume Driven Work, Non-Volume Driven Work, and Location Properties Driven Work sections.
  5. In the Volume Driven Work section, click the plus icon to display a blank row.
  6. Specify this information:
    Description
    Specify a description.
    Activity
Select the activity to which the employee is assigned from the lookup.
    JOB ID
Select the name of the job that is required at this location from the lookup. Select Any to require staffing of a skill without creating additional workload. For example, the Any job can be used to ensure that an employee is staffed with the Spanish skill at all times, regardless of their job qualifications and the workload they are covering.

The Any job is frequently used at the store level location rather than in a single department. See Jobs and skills.

    Skill
Select the skill that is required of the employee for this job at this location from the lookup. Select NONE if no specific skill is required for the job.
    Skill Level
Specify the minimum skill level that is required to staff this job at this location.
    Min Required
Specify the minimum number of people that are required to staff this job at this location.

See Setting minimum required value exceptions.

See Shift offsets for more details.

    Effective Start Date
Select the date on which the staff requirement is effective using the lookup. By default, the staff requirement is effective from the current date.
    Effective End Date
Select the date on which the staff requirement is no longer effective using the lookup. By default, the staff requirement expires in 01/01/3000.
  7. If you are using the preference to schedule higher skilled employees at peak times, you must select a driver from the Peak Time Source lookup.
This driver and its associated distribution will be used to determine when the peak periods are for this staff requirement. You must also enter a maximum number of peak periods to schedule for a week. This parameter can be used to limit the preference to schedule peaks to only the highest volume peak times for locations with few top performers.
  8. In the Volume Driven Work section, click the plus icon to open a blank row where you can add driver details.
  9. Specify this information:
    Description
Specify a description for the driver.
    Driver Name
Select a driver for the department using the lookup.
    Productivity
Specify the productivity standard for this staffing requirement. This standard is the main productivity standard that will be used for all workload generation unless a Stepped or Time Based override is created.
  10. Click the Steps icon to set up stepped productivity standards. This option allows you to specify a different productivity standard for different volume ranges.
Leave these fields blank to use the main productivity standard from the Productivity field.
  11. Click the Time icon to set up day and time specific productivity standards. This option allows you to have different productivity standards for different days of the week and times of the day.
Leave these fields blank to use the main productivity standard from the Productivity field.

  13. Add more volume-driven staffing requirements for this location as necessary.
  14. Click Save.
