Employee information

The scheduling process must unite the labor demand with the employees who are qualified to perform that labor. The employees must be configured in the system, and their qualifications, availability, and other work details must also be in the system. Much of this information can be interfaced from the HR system, but some may be maintained in the system.

This table shows the type of employee information that is required and the typical source for that information:

Employee Detail Employee Import Maintained in the system Notes
Basic information (name, hire date, etc) Yes No
Job qualifications Some Some Typically the primary job may come from the HR system while in-training or secondary jobs are maintained in the system.
Skill qualifications Occasionally Yes If there is an existing skill tracking system, you could interface these qualifications in the employee import. But typically the skills are maintained in the system.
Employee settings such as Min and Max Hours / Assignment Period Yes Some These values are usually set in the employee import, but some of the fields such as Max Hours / Assignment Period might be maintained in the system.
Fixed shifts No Yes

Fixed shifts are typically something that doesn’t exist in any other system, so they are usually maintained in the system through the shift pattern form.
