Creating a Reader for Each Device that Displays the HTML Clock

You must create a reader in the WFM application for each supported device that uses an HTML Clock. The required settings are listed in this topic. To create a reader for a device that displays the HTML Clock:

  1. Select Maintenance > Reader Setup > Readers.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Reader
    Specify the name of the new reader.
    Description
    Specify a description of the new reader.
    Reader Type
    Select HTML.
    Reader Group
    Select the reader group to which the reader is assigned from the lookup.
    IP Address
    For clocks such as the HTML Clock which connects to the standalone WBCS, specify the IP address of the supported device that will access the HTML Clock. You will need one reader for each device that accesses the clock.
    Reader Status
    Indicate whether the reader is online or offline from the lookup..
    Reader Zone
    Readers can be associated with various locations or zones within an organization. Typically, all readers belong to the same zone.
    Time zone
    Select the time zone of the reader from the lookup.
    Disable PIN Validation
    Select the check box to disable employee PIN validation so that employees only need to provide a badge, but not a PIN.
    Start Grace
    Specify the grace period at the start of the employee’s shift during which an employee's swipe is considered valid. For example, if there is a 15 minute grace period set and an employees swipes in 10 minutes after the shift has started, the employee is considered to have swiped in on time.
    End Grace
    Specify the grace period at the end of the employee’s shift during which an employee's swipe is considered valid. For example, if there is a 15 minute grace period set and an employee swipes off 10 minutes before the shift has ended, the employee is considered to have swiped off on time.
    Swipe Method
    Select the swipe type that is used by the clock. For HTML Clock, only Default is supported.
  4. Click Save.
