Punching in other changes

A change punch allows you to process a labor metric change such as a Job or Department switch. For example, if you work as a cashier and as a customer service representative, a Job change punch records when you switch from one job to the other. To extend this example, if the Job switch also requires that you switch departments, a Department change punch will record this switch.

Your supervisor can explain when and which type of punch to use depending on the requirements of your organization.

The labor metric change punch allows you to change one of the following metrics depending on the configuration of the clock:

  • Department
  • Docket
  • Job
  • Project
  • Time Code
Note: The labor metric label will vary depending on your organization's requirements and the configuration of the clock.

To process a change punch:

  1. Swipe or enter your badge using one of these options:
    • Type in your badge number using the numeric keypad on the clock.
Note: If your badge number is alphanumeric (combination of letters and numbers), you cannot enter the badge number on the clock. You will have enter your badge number by swiping your card.
    • Place your proximity badge on the proximity sensor of the clock.
    • Swipe your magnetic card through the magnetic card inset on the right side of the clock.

If the clock reader does not recognize your ID or badge, ensure that you are:

      • specifying your ID correctly.
      • scanning your badge properly.

If additional attempts to enter a badge or swipe a badge fail, contact your supervisor.

Note: You may not have to enter a badge number if your administrator has enabled Identificationmode for biometric validation. If this is the case, only a fingerprint is required for authentication. For more information, contact your system administrator.
  2. If prompted for verification, choose an option:
    • Specify your PIN and press enter on the clock keypad.
    • Place your finger on the fingerprint reader.
  3. Press the function key corresponding to the change required. For example, it could be one of Job (F7), Docket, Time Code, Dept. (F3), or Project.
  4. From the list of labor metrics, select a value by using the Prev (F5) and Next (F6) buttons to move the selection to the previous record or the next record. You can also use the Prev (F1) and Next (F2) buttons to move to the previous page or the next page.
Note: At any time you can press the clear button to return to the main badge entry screen.
  5. Select the list number of the labor metric and press enter to confirm the selection.
  6. If the change punch is:
    • successful, a confirmation message is displayed.
    • unsuccessful, an error message is displayed. The error message that is displayed depends on the validation rules defined in the clock configuration.
