Identification mode for Biometric Validation

Note: Identification mode on the 8000 Series clock requires OS 1.4.3 Patch D. Contact Infor Support if you need more information on upgrading to this OS and patch level.

Identification mode for biometric authentication allows employees to clock by only requiring an enrolled fingerprint and not a badge number. Having the option to clock in without a badge can save you the overhead of issuing and having to maintain badges. You can configure readers such that some employees can use biometrics while others can use a badge and PIN or badge only. Identification mode also supports Swipe & Go and Directionless swiping.

Verification mode for biometric authentication maintains the legacy implementation of requiring an enrolled fingerprint and a badge number (with optional PIN).

Both Identification and Verification mode can be used with the 8000-Series clock and applies to all types of supported biometric readers such as Smack Bio and Suprema. Both modes require that employees enroll a fingerprint on the clock and then use the fingerprint to validate themselves.

The following table outlines the template limits for both modes in the 8000 Series clock:

Smack Bio biometric reader Suprema biometric reader
# of templates in Verification Mode Unlimited Unlimited
# of templates in Identification Mode 3000 9050
Note: Template limits for the clock do not necessarily equate into the number of supported employees. For example, in Verification mode you can have an unlimited number of templates but there is a limit to the number of employees that you can have on the clock. You can have 10,000 employees on the 8000 Series clock, but as long as only 9050 are biometric and using Identification mode (maximum supported value for Suprema biometric reader) and the other 950 employees are not, the clock will support this.
