Enabling GPRS support

Note: Before starting this procedure you will need to obtain the APN name from you mobile communications provider.

To enable GPRS support on the 8000 Series clock:

  1. Modify the /etc/ppp/chat/gprs script to include the APN of your cellular service provider. This will require PuTTY and SSH access to the clocks in your deployment. For more information on using PuTTY, see Using PuTTY.

This is an example of a script with the APN:

    OK AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","<APN>","0.0.0.0",0,0

This is an example of a script with an APN value specified:

    OK AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","mobileprovider-core-appl1.apn","0.0.0.0",0,0
  2. Insert the SIM card from your mobile communications provider into the GPRS supported 8000 clock. This will require an 8000 Series clock with a GPRS adapter.
