Specify the Databases

Before you can perform any of the Migration Tool actions, you must specify which databases you want to access. In the Connect to Database page, you can define multiple databases to be used with the Migration Tool. Once a database is defined, its connection details are saved to the Migration Tool configuration file for future use.

Note: If the database connection details are updated in the configuration file, you will be prompted to resave the configuration file when you exit the Migration Tool application.

In the following example, a database called PROD is being defined. Once saved, the database connection configurations are then stored in the migrationTool.xml file. All that is required when you access the Migration Tool in the future is the data source name and database password.

In the following example, two databases have already been defined: one called PROD, and another called TEST. The user would like to migrate data from the TEST database to the PROD database.
